Sigma has announced the release of a new 70mm F2.8 medium telephoto macro lens. The lens is designed for a wide variety of macro photography with a range from infinity to 1:1. The lens has a floating focus system for superior optical performance, and a "focus limiter switch" designed to limit focus range and improve the overall speed and accuracy of the autofocus.

According to Pentax, "the 70mm focal length gives an equivalent field of view as our popular 105mm macro lens when used on digital SLR cameras with an APS-C size image sensor." The lens is compatible with a wide variety of Nikon, Pentax, and Canon EOS digital cameras.
