Although not a true SLR, the Fujifilm FinePix S9100 is certainly one of the most promising new SLR-like cameras available. The camera boasts a 9 megapixel Super CCD sensor, an advanced picture stabilization system, and an intelligent flash system.

The advanced picture stabilization system reduces blurring due to movement and camera shake by utilizing high-speed shutter settings at ISO1600. The camera automatically adjusts to changing conditions, allowing it to use the correct light sensitivity and shutter speed.



The intelligent flash, or i-Flash, system helps produce brighter and higher quality photos under low light conditions. The system recognizes scene conditions and determines the optimum flash intensity needed to produce the best results. As a result, "subjects in the foreground appear natural, and background detail is bright and clear."

The S9100 uses a 10.7x wide angle optical zoom lens with a focal range equivalent to 28mm - 300mm. The lens alsp does quite well with macrophotography; in super macro mode the S9100 can focus as close as 0.4 inches.
