Leica introduced today its very first fully digital SLR, the Digilux 3. Leica has been working closely with Panasonic over the last few years to produce a variety of new cameras. It comes as no surprise then that the Digilux 3 bears a striking resemblance to the Panasonic Lumix DMC-L1K.

The Leica Digilux 3 has a 7.5-megapixel sensor that uses the Four-Thirds standard also used by Panasonic and Olympus. The camera has somewhat blocky old-fashioned look, rather standard for Leica, designed by Berlin's Prof. Achim Heine. The camera also has analog-like controls including an exposure ring and manual setting rings for aperture, zoom and focusing on the lens.

"This makes it the ideal tool for demanding reportage photography."
