The CompactFlash Association (CFA) announced today a dramatic increase in the interface data transfer rate of compact flash cards: from 66MB/sec to 133MB/sec.

"The development of the CompactFlash 133MB/sec interface means that the CompactFlash interface will not restrict the sustained data transfer rate of CompactFlash cards in the near future," said CFA chairman Shigeto Kanda. "Data write performance of digital SLR cameras as well as other high performance cameras will not be limited by the flashcard interface."

CompactFlash cards are used on over
325 digital cameras, 150 pocket PCs, and more than 410 other electronic devices.
