photography magazine American Photo (http://www.americanphotomag.com)
has announced the winners of its annual Editor Choice Awards. Among
some 16 photo and imaging categories are
three SLR categories: Entry-Level D-SLRs, Advanced D-SLRs, and Professional D-SLRs.
Taking top prize among the entry-level dSLRs was the Olympus E-Volt
E-330. The editors cite the cameras unique hinged live-view LCD
display, which allows the user to view and compose their shot without
looking through the viewfinder. They contend that this is provides a
more natural transition for people who are used to using a live-view
system on regular point-and-shoot cameras.
7.4-megapixels Live MOS image sensor
Price: $900
Under the advanced dSLR category, the winner was the Nikon D200. The
editors believe this mid-range dSLR has a excellent combination of
high-quality image capture, durability, speed, design, and handling.
10.2-megapixel CCD image sensor
Price: $1,700
Finally, the top professional dSLR was Canon EOS 5D. The most
impressive feature of this high-performance camera is its full frame
35mm-sized image, capable of producing very sharp images with
12.7-megapixel resolution and very little noise.
