Tamron's newest camera lens, the Model A18, is said to be world's first 13.9x zoom lens. The relatively compact AF18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 Di-II LD Aspherical (IF) Macro lens was designed specifically for digital SLRs with APS-C imager sensors.

The basic design of the Model A18 comes from its predecessor, the AF18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 XI Di-II LD Aspherical (IF) Macro Model A14. This lens was essentially lengthened by 0.6mm and 0.2mm in diameter to create the Model A18's additional 50mm of focal length. With such a wide focal range, Tamron is hoping the Model A18 will satisfy consumer demand for both wideangle and telephoto lenses.

Pricing and anticipated release date are yet unknown.
