Replacing
the best-selling Canon EF 75-300mm f4-5.6 telephoto lens, the Canon EF
70-300mm zoom lens sports a 3-stop image stabilizer capable of
dramatically reducing blurring due to camera shake. Several gyro
sensors throughout the lens detect camera shake vibrations and rely
this information to a correcting lens group. The light path is then
altered to accurately position the image on the sensor.
The f4-5.6 IS USM zoom lens is also equipped with a very responsive
ultra-sonic frequency vibration autofocus, designed with the active
nature and sports photographer in mind. Impressive holding torque
provides excellent control over lens movement so that the correct focus
is used every time. The AF is also speedy thanks to a new high-speed
processor and a retooled AF algorithm.
Image quality is aided by a Super Spectra lens coating and lens element
shaping that cuts down on flare and ghosting. The lens coating absorbs
light and signficantly reduces light reflection off of lens components.
This results in brighter, sharper, and more color-accurate photos.
