With a price tag of about $600, the Leica D-Lux 3 is one of the few compact digital cameras that reach up into the price range of an entry-level dSLR. Then again, few compact cameras offer a 10-megapixel CCD sensor, O.I.S. optical stabilization technology, aperture at F2.8-F8.0 (wide angle) and F4.9-F8.0 (telephoto), and countless other features you will find on Leica's newest compact.

The pricey Leica D-Lux also sports a large, bright 2.8-inch TFT color display with an impressive 207,000 pixels. Users have both manual and automatic ISO option with a range of 100 - 1600. Flash modes include automatic on with or without preflash (red-eye reduction), manual on (fill-in flash) with or without preflash, slow sync for longer shutter speeds (with preflash), and flash off. The camera can also record video with audio at up to 1280 x 720 pixels at 12 fps (faster fps with lower resolution). The Leica D-Lux can shoot in either RAW or JPEG. Preset scene modes include portraits, sport, night scenes, night portraits, fireworks, parties, snow, self-portraits, food, high-sensitivity mode, Baby 1, Baby 2, soft skin, candlelight, starry skies, and landscapes.
