The HSM is incorporated into the compact standard zoom lens 18-50mm F3.5-5.6 DC giving this lens the capability to auto focus with all Nikon DSLR cameras(including the D40 and D40x).  An aspherical lens and Super Multi Layer Coatings are used to achieve excellent lens performance and High image quality throughout the entire zoom range.
Olympus today announces its new super-telephoto Zuiko Digital™ ED 70-300mm (f4.0-f5.6) lens with a compact, lightweight design that is ideal for travel – a perfect complement to the two new portable D-SLR (digital single lens reflex) cameras, the EVOLT E-410 and E-510.

The lens' impressive 140-600mm equivalent focal length (in 35mm photography) is excellent for capturing beautiful images in situations where getting close to a subject is not practical, such as photographing distant scenes, wildlife, sports and children at play. Additionally, due to its unique optical design and impressive minimum focusing distance, this telephoto lens enables consumers to get up-close (38 inches / 0.96 meters) to subjects when taking macro shots - essential for capturing the intricate detail of a flower or jewelry. The lens will be compatible with all E-System and Four-Thirds system cameras, and it will be available at an attractive price for consumers.
Sigma Corp. today announced a new 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS lens equipped with Sigma's own OS (Optical Stabilizer) function. According to Sigma, the OS function, "uses two sensors inside the lens to detect vertical and horizontal movement of the camera and works by moving an optical image stabilizing lens group, to effectively compensate for camera shake. It automatically detects movement of the camera and compensates for camera shake when shooting moving subject such as motor sports." The lens is also equipped with two SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements, two aspherical lenses, and super multi-layer lens coating to reduce ghosting and aberrations.

Sigma has announced it will release three new lenses this spring, including a 18-50mm F2.8 EX DC macro, 28-70mm F2.8-4 DG, and 500mm F4.5 EX DG/HSM telephoto. According to Sigma, the 18-50mm lens, "has a large aperture of F2.8 throughout the entire zoom range, a minimum focusing distance of 20cm and a maximum magnification of 1:3, making it ideal for close-up photography," while the 28-70mm lens, "has a large aperture of F2.8 at 28mm focal length and yet it is compact and lightweight, with an overall length of 62.5mm and weight of 255g. This compact, large aperture zoom lens is ideal for digital and 35mm SLR cameras." The 500mm ultra-telephoto "has a fast maximum aperture, and also features a new super multi-layer coating, which optimizes the characteristics of digital SLR cameras." The 28-70mm currently has a MSRP of $180 and the 500mm $5400.

Engineered exclusively for use with Nikon’s DX format digital SLR cameras, including the D80, D40 and recently announced D40x, this new lens approximates the picture angle characteristics of an 82.5-300mm lens on a 35mm film SLR camera.

Canon's new high-quality standard lens is a 50mm 2L USM. With a well-crafted, sturdy construction, the lens is designed to be weather-resistant. For users who prefer a static focal length, the 50mm lens can be used in a wide variety of situations. The very fast f/1.2 aperture (the lowest of any Canon EF lens) also makes the lens especially suitable for low-light conditions. The surface of the lens is covered with a special lens coating that reduces ghosting and flare. The 50mm lens retails for about $1600.

The Nikon 70-200mm f2.8G IF-ED AF-S VR is a relatively compact, lightweight G-type telephoto zoom lens outfitted with Vibration Reduction (VR) technology. The 70-200mm telephoto is one of 6 Nikon Nikkor lenses equipped with VR. The vibration reduction technology allows users to take shots using a shutter speed up to three times slower than they would with a non-VR lens.
